GTA 6 Release Date Confirmed: November 19, 2026
After years of speculation, Rockstar officially locked in November 19, 2026 as the launch date for Grand Theft Auto VI.
Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI launches on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S.
The announcement came via a short post on the Rockstar Newswire accompanied by a brief video showing the GTA VI logo against a Vice City sunset. No extended trailer accompanied the date.
What was confirmed
That final point generated more discussion than the date itself, and it remains the most common question we receive.
Why November
A mid-November date is a deliberate commercial choice rather than an arbitrary one.
It places the game in the centre of the holiday buying window — late enough that console sales are peaking, early enough that word of mouth has several weeks to compound before the end of the year. It also puts the launch in Take-Two's fiscal third quarter, which is the period publishers most want flagship revenue to land in.
Rockstar has used this window before. GTA V launched in September 2013, Red Dead Redemption 2 in late October 2018. November is well inside the pattern.
On the PC question
Rockstar has not announced a PC release date. It has also not said there will not be one.
Series history is consistent on this: GTA V reached PC roughly eighteen months after consoles, Red Dead Redemption 2 roughly thirteen. If GTA VI follows that pattern, a PC release somewhere between late 2027 and mid 2028 is a reasonable expectation — though it remains an expectation, not information.
Pre-orders and editions
Pre-orders have since opened across the usual storefronts, with the standard tiering Rockstar typically uses. Our pre-order guide covers what each edition contains and, more usefully, whether the bonuses are worth paying for.
The short version: digital copies never sell out, so there is no urgency unless you specifically want a physical edition or intend to preload for launch-night play.
Has the date held?
Yes. As of October 2026 the 19 November date has remained in place since announcement.
This is consistent with how Rockstar operates. Loose release *windows* have moved more than once across this project's history — the game was at one point expected in 2025. But once Rockstar commits to a specific day, it has historically kept it.
